Apple is highlighting new research from economists at Analysis Group showing that the App Store ecosystem generates about $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales in 2025. Apple’s figures describe the App Store as facilitating record transaction volume across its developer ecosystem. In the study summary highlighted by multiple outlets, Apple says it receives no commission on more than 90% of App Store transactions, reflecting existing commission rules for certain payments.
The reporting also cites additional takeaways from the study that Apple is using to support its broader assessment of growth. One highlighted metric is that apps featuring consumer-facing AI see four times more growth in billings than other apps, according to the study’s figures presented by Apple. Another point noted is that the App Store ecosystem’s size has nearly tripled since 2019.
Apple releases these findings in connection with upcoming company events and frames the results as evidence that developers “continue to thrive globally,” while the underlying numbers focus on total billings and commission structure.
