The image is based on data collected on May 12, 2024, when Juno passes near Jupiter as part of its ongoing mission to study the planet’s atmosphere and environment. The view is presented as digitally processed to improve color and clarity, highlighting Jupiter’s swirling and turbulent cloud patterns.

NASA says the image is built from raw measurements from the JunoCam instrument. A citizen scientist, Gary Eason, is credited with creating the image by applying digital processing techniques to the raw JunoCam data.
