A watchdog group, Public Citizen, reports that corporate donors tied to President Donald Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom project have received additional federal business. In its analysis, the group says that 14 of 27 corporate donors publicly identified as contributing to the ballroom have secured new or improved government contracts since those donations became known. Across those donors, Public Citizen estimates the value of the additional federal contracts at more than $50 billion, based on contract awards over roughly the past six months, according to reporting from multiple outlets.
The findings are presented as part of a broader dispute over potential conflicts of interest connected to the project and the role of donors.
