South Korean zombie thriller “Colony” remains the No. 1 film at the weekend box office for a third consecutive week, according to Korean Film Council/KOBIS weekend tracking data covering June 5–7. The film draws 603,868 admissions over the weekend, bringing its accumulated total to 4,727,520 as of Sunday. “Colony,” directed by Yeon Sang-ho, follows Se-jeong, a biotechnology professor portrayed by Jun Ji-hyun, and a group of survivors attempting to escape a building sealed off after a virus outbreak. The cast includes Koo Kyo-hwan as a researcher who controls zombies, along with Ji Chang-wook and Kim Shin-rok as survivors who fight the infected.
“Wild Sing,” a local comedy starring Gang Dong-won, opens to second place in the same period, recording 321,190 admissions for the weekend and 543,724 total admissions. In the same weekend rankings, the American sci-fi horror film “Backrooms” places third, with 199,817 admissions.
