Japanese police arrest a man on suspicion of incinerating his wife’s remains at a zoo where he worked after human remains are found, officials say. According to reports citing police and local authorities, the suspect, identified in some coverage as Tatsuya Suzuki, is arrested in Hokkaido. Officials say he allegedly transported his wife’s body to a tourist facility and destroyed it through incineration there.
The woman is reported as 33-year-old Yui Suzuki. Euronews and other coverage also report that investigators have looked at prior statements from the victim to relatives. Public broadcaster NHK, citing investigative sources, says the victim once told family members that her husband was threatening to “burn you until no trace of you will be left.”
Police provide details of the arrest and allegations while investigations continue. The reports also indicate authorities link the suspected incineration method to the zoo’s incinerator used at the site of the suspect’s work.
