Ireland’s consumer watchdog warns parents not to buy or use certain baby sleep pillows, citing a risk of death associated with the products. The warning follows enforcement action by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), which issues takedown notices to remove unsafe listings from online retailers.
According to reporting from both outlets, the takedown notices have already led to the removal of a substantial number of listings. The Irish Times and BreakingNews.ie both state that 1,115 listings have been taken down so far. The listings removed are reported to be on major e-commerce platforms, including AliExpress, Amazon, Fruugo and Joom.
The CCPC’s action forms part of a broader consumer safety effort to reduce the availability of products it considers unsafe for infants.
