Apple has announced iOS 27, the next major iPhone software update, after unveiling it at its Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino. The first iOS 27 developer beta is available now to registered developers shortly after the WWDC keynote, allowing app makers to begin testing and use newly released APIs. As with earlier iOS beta cycles, Apple limits the developer beta to developers and notes that early betas can be buggy and may carry risks.
Apple says a public beta will follow in July. The outlets reporting the timeline note that Apple typically releases the first public beta four to six weeks after the developer beta, and the expected window is in the second or third week of July. For the public beta, users need to enroll in Apple’s Beta Software Program, which is free.
A full public release is expected in the fall. Apple has described the launch as “coming this fall” rather than giving a specific day. Based on past release timing, the most likely general release period is mid-September, with estimates around September 14–18.
