Apple introduces iOS 27 at WWDC, and the first iOS 27 developer beta is now available. Early reports describe a significant redesign of the AirPods settings interface inside the iPhone Settings app. The new menu appears using the same behavior as before—only when AirPods are paired with the device—but the layout is reorganized to make the growing list of AirPods features easier to navigate.
According to coverage, the updated screen becomes more compact and reduces the need to scroll through long sections. Apple adds a dedicated volume slider under the Listening Mode options. Several existing areas are consolidated into separate menus with new icons, including Accessibility, Audio & Routing, Hearing Health, and Controls & Gestures. Additional categories are also described for Battery, Privacy, and Find My.
One outlet also notes that the redesign is reflected in macOS 27 “Golden Gate” System Settings. Apple plans to release public beta versions of iOS 27 and macOS 27 next month, with general releases expected in the fall.
