ITV removes Graham Norton’s reality game show The Neighbourhood from a primetime slot less than two weeks after its launch, according to multiple reports. The programme originally airs at 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays, but ITV’s scheduling changes shift it to 10.45pm on those nights, which is described by outlets as a “graveyard” slot. In the revised listings, Thursdays feature an episode of Davina McCall’s Long Lost Family, while Fridays are replaced by Beat The Chasers. Reporting also says ITV is not planning a second run for the series, with one outlet describing the show as having been axed after disappointing ratings.
The Neighbourhood, promoted as ITV’s attempt to compete with BBC’s The Traitors, follows groups of friends and families living together in a community environment while taking part in challenges to win money. Outlets attribute the schedule downgrade to poor reviews and low audience numbers. ITVX continues to stream the full box set, and the series continues to air in the evening slot on ITV1 as part of the post-primetime schedule.
