Iceland-born, U.S.-based producer Sigurjón “Joni” Sighvatsson is set to receive the Raimondo Rezzonico Award from the Locarno Film Festival. The honor recognizes producers associated with the indie ethos, and Sighvatsson is scheduled to be presented the award on August 6 during the festival, which runs August 5 to 15. Sighvatsson co-founded Propaganda Films in 1986 with Steve Golin, and the company later produces a wide range of film and television titles. Sources note his connection to major projects including David Lynch’s “Wild at Heart” (1990), and Variety also cites “Twin Peaks” among the TV shows associated with Propaganda’s output. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Sighvatsson has worked behind films including those of Kathryn Bigelow and Jim Sheridan. As part of the Locarno celebrations, he is also expected to present feature credits during the festival program, including “Wild at Heart.”
