Prime Video releases the first trailer for “Elle,” a prequel series expanding the “Legally Blonde” franchise. The show stars newcomer Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods and is set in 1995, depicting the period before Elle becomes a “fish-out-of-water” at Harvard. The plot begins when Elle’s parents tell her she must leave her privileged life in Bel-Air and relocate to Seattle during the grunge era. In the trailer, Elle is shown trying to adapt to her new surroundings while maintaining her identity.
The official synopsis shared by Prime Video frames the first season around the high school experiences that shape Elle into the character audiences know from the original film. The series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, who originated the role in the 2001 movie. Supporting cast includes Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney and Zac Looker, with June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott playing Elle’s parents, Eva and Wyatt Woods.
All eight episodes are scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, 1 July.
