Multiple outlets report that season three will be shortened and will continue the storyline using the remaining book in the series, “As Good As Dead.”
Variety and Deadline both describe the renewal as part of completing the overall three-season adaptation of the trilogy. A press release characterizes the final season as bringing Pip’s “ultimate investigation” to a conclusion, and Variety specifies that the third season consists of four episodes. Deadline similarly frames the decision as Netflix wrapping up the adaptation with an abbreviated final run rather than a full-length season.
Together, the reports indicate Netflix is moving forward with a concluding, reduced-episode third season to finish the adaptation, after the earlier seasons completed prior books in Jackson’s series.
