Anthropic is increasing usage and rate limits for its Claude Code tool and Claude Opus API following a new agreement with SpaceX. At Anthropic’s “Code with Claude” developer conference, CEO Dario Amodei said the deal is designed to give Anthropic more compute capacity and to support higher limits for subscribers.
Across multiple plans, Anthropic doubles Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits beginning Tuesday for Pro and Max and also for Team and seat-based Enterprise tiers, according to reporting across outlets. The company also removes peak-hours throttling that previously reduced limits for Pro and Max accounts during times of high demand. In parallel, Anthropic raises API rate limits for its Claude Opus model, with details published by the company.
The compute expansion is linked to SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Sources report that Anthropic gains access to the center’s full compute capacity and that it is more than 300 megawatts. SpaceX describes Colossus 1 as using more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including H100, H200, and GB200 accelerators.
