Singapore police arrest five teenagers on June 9 for their suspected involvement in stealing two cars and taking them for joyrides. The case begins after police are alerted at about 4:35pm on June 6 to a report of motor vehicle theft in Ponggol Seventeeth Avenue, a landed residential estate in Singapore’s Punggol area.
Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects—four males and one female, all aged between 15 and 18—were able to access the vehicles using transponder keys that had been left unattended on the cars’ tyres. Police say the teenagers do not have driving licences.
The Singapore Police Force takes action following the report and detains the group as part of investigations into the thefts. Both outlets report that the stolen vehicles were taken for joyrides and that the key access method involved keys left on the tyres.
