The Directors Guild of America (DGA) reaches a tentative four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), adding to recent multi-year deals reached by other entertainment unions. The tentative agreement comes after talks that begin about four weeks ago and is reached during the first negotiations under DGA President Christopher Nolan, who takes office in September.

According to reports, the DGA’s National Board of Directors reviews the tentative contract and votes unanimously to recommend it to the membership. The agreement then moves to the full DGA membership for ratification, a step that is expected to follow the board’s approval since tentative deals typically clear both stages.

While most outlets report that the DGA and AMPTP do not disclose full contract terms immediately, coverage highlights areas the deal is intended to address, including job and unemployment-related issues, increases tied to a health plan, and new protections related to artificial intelligence. The DGA deal is part of broader labor negotiations that the industry has already seen with other unions signing longer-term contracts.
