Sushmita Dev resigns as Rajya Sabha MP, second TMC exit in a week

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman, C P Radhakrishnan on Wednesday accepted TMC MP Sushmita Dev’s resignation. This marks another setback for TMC under Mamata Banerjee and is the second such development from their parliamentary group, the first being Sukhendu Sekhar Ray.A PTI report said Dev submitted a brief resignation letter to chairperson, seeking immediate acceptance from the position of MP . While stating the reason for her exist, she said this decision is a very long story and in politics, and she doesn't think that everything needs to be revealed and be in two boats.The move has intensifies the internal termoil that Mamata-led TMC is going through.The resignation comes at a difficult time for the party, as it recently faced a defeat in assembly elections in West Bengal and growing speculations about party's split.Hailing from Assam, Dev joined TMC in 2021 after quitting congress. She was eventually nominated to Rajya Sabha by TMC.Her exit comes after senior TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray's resignation, which was accepted by Rajya Sabha Chairman earlier this week. His decision comes after concern for alleged curroption in the party. It was amidst a reported rebellion inside the party post defeat in assembly elections.

She cited personal and political reasons for her decision, which came amid internal problems in the Trinamool Congress.
