Chase is updating the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in a refresh scheduled for June 15. Multiple reports say the changes include improved earning and additional travel-related perks. The card will add or enhance bonus categories for gas, EV charging, and vacation rentals. It also will include a $100 hotel credit and reimbursements for Global Entry, PreCheck, and Nexus. Sources also report that the card’s travel protections are strengthened as part of the update.
The most significant change highlighted across outlets is a reduction in the Hyatt transfer bonus. Previously, Hyatt transfers from Sapphire Preferred (and related Chase cards such as Ink Business Preferred) reportedly offered a 1:1 transfer ratio. Under the refresh, the Hyatt transfer ratio is set to drop to 4:3. This means each transfer will provide fewer Hyatt points per unit transferred compared with the current structure.
Overall, the update combines enhanced rewards and benefits with a less favorable change for customers who value transferring points to Hyatt.
