Singapore authorities say arrest warrants and Interpol notices for fugitive financier Low Taek Jho (also known as Jho Low) remain in effect, despite reported efforts by Malaysia-based figures to seek clemency in the United States. Singapore police state that “warrants of arrest and Interpol red notices” for Low Taek Jho are still active. They also say Interpol red notices and arrest warrants for Tan Kim Loong remain in force; Tan is described as an associate of Low and is implicated in Malaysia’s 1MDB scandal.
Both Singapore and US authorities have accused Low of involvement in masterminding or directing the alleged looting tied to 1MDB. Separately, Singapore says that certain 1MDB-linked assets continue to be seized in the city-state, including assets linked to Low and his family. The developments come amid reports that Low seeks or supports efforts for clemency from US President Donald Trump, though Singapore’s position is that its domestic warrants and Interpol notices are not affected.
