Sony Pictures is developing a third installment of the buddy-cop comedy franchise “Jump Street,” tentatively titled “24 Jump Street,” with the original cast reportedly in discussions to return. Multiple outlets say Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are in talks to reprise their roles for the project, which follows “22 Jump Street.”
The reporting is also consistent on the creative team. Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and others state that Rodney Rothman, who co-wrote “22 Jump Street,” is expected to take over directing duties. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the earlier films, are expected to return as producers. Several sources add that Lord and Miller are involved from a production standpoint even as they step back from directing.
While details beyond the cast and key production roles are not broadly confirmed in these accounts, outlets frame “24 Jump Street” as actively in development at Sony and note that more information is expected as negotiations proceed.
