President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to travel to Kazan, Russia, from June 17 to 18 to take part in the Asean-Russia Commemorative Summit, according to the Philippine Palace. The summit marks the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations, and will bring together leaders from the 11 ASEAN member states. Palace spokesperson Claire Castro said the visit is tied to the anniversary and that Marcos will participate in the two-day event.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously confirmed that Marcos will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the summit. The meeting is expected to be part of broader discussions among leaders on the state of ASEAN-Russia cooperation and relations. Marcos is also scheduled to help lead a review of cooperation between ASEAN and Russia, which includes discussions on ongoing and future areas of engagement.

The reports describe the trip as both ceremonial, reflecting the anniversary, and substantive, with leader-level talks planned within the summit framework.
