Beetaloo Energy is restarting activity in the Northern Territory as it moves toward pilot gas production. Multiple outlets report that the company plans to conduct flow testing at its Carpentaria-5H well, with the testing expected later this month. The work follows a pause after the wet season, according to reporting from The West Australian.
In parallel with the well testing, Beetaloo is preparing a new seismic survey. The outlets say the company plans a 230-kilometre seismic campaign aimed at improving understanding of the Beetaloo basin’s gas resources and supporting future development. The reporting also links the seismic effort to the prospect of unlocking large gas volumes, citing a target of about 20 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).
Across the sources, the common focus is on the combination of near-term appraisal activity (Carpentaria-5H flow testing) and longer-horizon subsurface mapping (the seismic survey) as Beetaloo progresses its NT operations.
