The Nigerian Army says an unauthorised entry by Cameroonian troops into Danare Community in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State is brought under control. According to a statement from Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, the incident follows a report of foreign military presence, prompting a swift response by Nigerian forces stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Danare. The Army says it contacted Cameroonian authorities, and that Cameroonian personnel withdrew in line with border protocols, preventing any further escalation. The Army also reports that preliminary findings point to a dispute over farmland levies between Nigeria’s Danare Community and Cameroon’s Dadi Community. To reduce the risk of similar incidents, the General Officer Commanding the 82 Division directs the Commander of the 13 Brigade to hold discussions with his Cameroonian counterpart to improve border coordination and clarify operational procedures. Residents are reassured that the situation is stable, troops remain alert, and monitoring continues. The public is advised to remain calm, carry on lawful activities, and avoid spreading unverified information.
