Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources says the country has fully settled all outstanding payments owed to foreign oil and gas production and investment partners, bringing arrears to zero. The ministry announced that the arrears stood at about $6.1 billion as of June 2024, and that the remaining dues have now been paid in full. The ministry says the settlement is carried out in coordination with relevant state bodies and is part of efforts to address longstanding payment delays reported in previous periods. Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy is quoted saying this is the first time in years that the investment partners’ outstanding dues have been fully cleared. Egyptian officials characterize the move as more than a financial reconciliation, describing it as a step toward resolving the underlying issue that had left partners unpaid for an extended period. The announcements indicate that no arrears remain as of the June 10, 2026 update.
