Doug Liman is developing the spy thriller “Star One” with Miles Teller and Eddie Redmayne, according to reports ahead of its presentation for the Cannes market. Variety and Deadline both say Liman is set to direct the project and that Teller and Redmayne are in discussions to star as two mismatched CIA agents. The planned plot centers on a charismatic agent played by Teller and a more rigid, strait-laced agent played by Redmayne, who are required to work together to carry out an operation, with Deadline adding that the story is based on a true story.

Variety also reports that Liman is directing from a script by David Coggeshall. The outlets add that CAA is involved in launching the project at Cannes, alongside other production and financing partners referenced by Deadline, including Black Bear and CAA Media Finance. The companies involved and specific casting are described as talks/set arrangements, indicating the project is still in development as it heads to the market.
