Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, says he has written to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde offering to help secure public schools in response to rising insecurity. The proposal comes about three-and-a-half weeks after the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area, which has heightened concerns about attacks on schools and children.
According to reports, Igboho’s letter also urges urgent preventive action to address the situation. He offers the services of his security outfit, Iru Ekun, to support protection of schools in Oyo State. The outlets describe the offer as a readiness to provide security measures for schools, framed as an immediate response to kidnappings and threats.
The reports do not indicate any official acceptance or rejection of the offer by the state government within the coverage. The focus remains on Igboho’s communication to the governor and the context of recent abductions that have prompted calls for stronger safeguarding of pupils and teachers.
