Pixar is unveiling its next animated feature, “Gatto,” ahead of “Toy Story 5.” The film follows cats in Italy, with sources describing the setting as Venice. “Gatto” is directed by Enrico Casarosa, who previously made “Luca” for Pixar. The story centers on Nero, a scrappy black cat who becomes indebted to a local feline mob boss. Nero is then pulled into obligations that lead to an unexpected friendship. Mark Ruffalo is set to voice Nero, while Laurence Fishburne voices Rocco, described as a ruthless mob boss cat. A first-look teaser trailer and related promotional material introduce Nero and Rocco and include an interrogation-style scene. Additional casting details beyond the two lead voices are not yet confirmed in the reports. “Gatto” is scheduled to reach theaters in March 2027, according to one source, with another report noting the timing of the announcement alongside other Pixar releases.
