Kinepolis, the Belgium-based cinema operator, agrees to buy the Showcase Cinemas circuit in the United States from Harbor Lights Entertainment, formerly associated with National Amusements. The deal is valued at $30 million, according to reporting from both outlets. Showcase operates 13 theaters across several states, with seven locations in Massachusetts, four in New York, one in Ohio, and one in Rhode Island. The transaction structure includes both owned and leased sites: Kinepolis will acquire ownership of six of the cinemas, while the remaining locations are handled under lease agreements. Harbor Lights Entertainment is linked to the Redstone family media legacy, which began with a drive-in in Rhode Island and later expanded into the National Amusements business. The agreement moves U.S. theater holdings to Kinepolis, extending the operator’s footprint beyond Europe.
