Mumbai’s hot and humid spell continues as the southwest monsoon remains delayed. Observations at the Colaba and Santacruz weather stations show persistently high minimum temperatures around 30°C and daytime highs in the mid-30s. Colaba recorded minimum temperatures of about 30.1–30.2°C with maxima around 36°C across recent days, while Santacruz also reported minimums near 30°C and highs around 35°C. Humidity stays elevated, making conditions feel hotter, with readings often in the mid-70s per cent. IMD forecasts generally humid weather with only isolated drizzle or light showers and occasional thundercloud development, rather than widespread monsoon rainfall.
IMD issues a Yellow Alert for hot and humid conditions for Mumbai and parts of the metropolitan region, with coverage extending to June 15–16 in the latest reports. Sources also note Mumbai has missed its normal June 11 monsoon onset date, and meteorologists expect that significant rainfall is unlikely before around June 20, though light rain activity may begin in the latter half of the month. Alongside the weather outlook, reports mention generally “good” to “moderate” air quality on some days, improving further compared with earlier pollution fluctuations.
