Peugeot confirms the production-ready e-208 GTi, an electric hot hatch that revives the GTi nameplate for the first time since the previous 308 GTi ended production in 2021. The company debuts the car ahead of a public presentation at the Le Mans 24 Hours, after it was originally shown as a concept at the circuit last year. Peugeot says the final design is very close to the concept.

The e-208 GTi uses a single front-mounted electric motor delivering about 277–278 bhp and 254 lb-ft of torque. Reported 0–62 mph performance is 5.5–5.7 seconds. It runs on a 54 kWh battery shared with the standard e-208, with revised cooling to help maintain performance at high speeds. Claimed range is up to around 218 miles with standard equipment and up to 233 miles with optional tyres.

The GTi gains a mechanical limited-slip differential, hydraulic bump stops, a rear anti-roll bar, and a unique steering calibration, and it sits 30 mm lower with wider front and rear tracks. Peugeot also publishes UK pricing, described as £34,995 before the government Electric Car Grant. UK sales are expected to begin toward the end of the year.
