A boat capsizes in the Yamuna river in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, leaving six people missing, including children, while three are rescued, police say. The incident occurs on Wednesday evening at about 7 p.m. near Kutubpur Patiya hamlet under Bhauli gram panchayat, in the Kurara police station area. Police report that nine people were returning from a river island after buying cucumbers and muskmelons when the boat reportedly loses balance in the middle of the river and overturns.

A boatman, identified as Dheeru, rescues three people—Vishnu, Rinku and Parul—at the time of the incident. The remaining six are reported missing. The names released by police include Akanksha (9), Rani (9), Brijrani (25), Labhyansh (5), Mahesh (6) and Aditya (11). Local authorities state that search operations for the missing are underway, supported by the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force. The district administration says rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate the missing persons.
