Madhya Pradesh is experiencing active pre-monsoon weather as the southwest monsoon remains 3–4 days behind schedule, with IMD expecting its entry into the state around June 17–18. Ahead of the monsoon, the state sees spells of rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hail reports and gusty winds in multiple districts, while other areas continue to experience hot and mostly dry conditions. IMD forecasts rain and strong winds in districts including Bhind, Datia, Chhatarpur, Panna, Sagar, Gwalior, Guna, Shivpuri, Morena, Sheopur, Vidisha, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, Jabalpur, Katni, Chhindwara, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli and others over the next few days. Wind speeds are reported to reach around 40–60 km/h in some places, and an orange alert is issued for strong winds in Shivpuri and Ashoknagar. Hail risk has been highlighted for parts of Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur. In contrast, districts such as Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Barwani and Khargone are expected to remain hot with mainly no rain warnings. Separately, IMD data indicate Madhya Pradesh is receiving about 23% less rainfall than normal so far in June.
