West Bengal CID asks TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee to appear again for questioning on June 14 in a signature forgery case involving newly elected MLAs. The development follows his earlier appearance before the agency, after which the Calcutta High Court granted him interim protection from coercive action. The CID probe focuses on a resolution submitted to the Assembly Secretariat. Some newly elected MLAs allege that their signatures on the resolution were forged. Ahead of the June 14 date, investigators indicate they remain unsatisfied with parts of Banerjee’s responses during a prior, extended grilling session. According to reports, Banerjee’s answers to questions during the previous interaction included remarks such as “I do not know,” and he is said to have lost his temper at one point during questioning. Investigators also expect him to come prepared with relevant documents to help explain or address discrepancies connected to the resolution and the signatures attributed to the MLAs. The case is tied to the process of getting the resolution formally recorded with the Assembly Secretariat.
