Hitachi Energy India says it will invest about ₹2,000 crore to set up a new large power transformer (LPT) factory in Gujarat. In filings and related reporting, the company identifies the location as Karjan in Vadodara district. The planned facility is intended to strengthen the company’s manufacturing footprint to meet growing demand for high-voltage power equipment in India and internationally. Sources describe the factory as producing large power transformers used in high-voltage transmission systems and HVDC projects. They also cite applications including power generation, large industrial installations, and demand drivers such as AI data centres and other high-load infrastructure.

Hitachi Energy India states the project is scheduled for completion in FY28. The company links the investment to supporting reliable, efficient, high-quality power equipment and to building a more self-reliant energy value chain. It also projects job creation, saying the project is expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. Hitachi Energy India is part of Hitachi Energy, a Switzerland-headquartered electrification company with operations across multiple countries.
