NLC India is declared the preferred bidder for a critical and strategic mineral block in Telangana, according to multiple reports citing stock exchange filings. The block—described as containing vanadium, titanium and aluminous laterite—is located in Sangareddy district and is tied to the Parvathapur mineral block mentioned by outlets. The decision follows a critical and strategic mineral blocks e-auction conducted by the Ministry of Mines on June 11, 2026. NLC India makes the disclosure in a regulatory filing dated June 12, 2026.

The reports add that the company’s acquisition of mining rights, subject to the completion of the auction process, would expand its resource portfolio beyond its traditional operations in lignite mining and power generation. Vanadium and titanium are described as strategic minerals with applications in sectors including energy storage, aerospace and defence, and the move is framed as aligned with government efforts to strengthen domestic supply of critical minerals for clean energy and industrial needs.

One outlet also notes the timing of NLC India signing an MoU with CSIR-CECRI to support work on beneficiation and extraction technologies for critical and strategic minerals.
