Qualcomm has unveiled two new chipsets aimed at affordable smartphones: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. The company positions both processors for phones launching later this year, targeting improvements in everyday performance and AI features without moving to the highest-end tier. According to the reports, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is designed to enable next-generation AI camera capabilities, alongside smoother display performance, which includes support for up to 90 frames per second for gaming and UI responsiveness. It also includes upgrades intended to improve connectivity speeds compared with previous generations.
Engadget additionally highlights that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 includes Qualcomm’s Smooth Motion UI technology, which is meant to contribute to smoother on-screen motion and interactions. For graphics performance, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 focuses on boosting the GPU, with the sources describing a significant increase in GPU capability. Together, the chips are presented as options for manufacturers looking to add AI camera features and improved gaming or display performance to mid-range and budget devices.
