The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carries out raids on properties linked to TMC MLA Madan Mitra as part of an investigation into a municipal recruitment “scam,” according to multiple reports. ED officials say the probe concerns alleged irregularities in appointments to municipal posts, including civic bodies in and around Kamarhati and nearby Titagarh. Sources cited by outlets report that Mitra is accused of receiving bribes—described as cash and gold—through middlemen in exchange for facilitating employment for candidates who allegedly were not qualified.

One outlet reports that the ED searches seven premises connected to Mitra. Another describes the allegations more broadly, stating that bribes were allegedly exchanged for securing municipal appointments and that the ED is examining the matter further.

Times of India reports that the investigation suggests more than 125 allegedly illegal or improper appointments are linked to the alleged scheme. The reports consistently state that the raids are part of the ED’s ongoing inquiry and that officials are collecting evidence related to the recruitment allegations.
