Aldi Scotland launches a Highland Games-inspired “Supermarket Sweep” challenge to raise money for CHAS, the children’s hospice charity. Multiple outlets report that the supermarket chain is inviting shoppers across Scotland to take part in a high-energy trolley dash inspired by the game show format. The challenge is themed around a Highland Games setting and features the “world’s strongest brothers,” described as Scotland’s strongest men, as part of the competition concept.
According to the reports, Aldi’s campaign runs across regions including the Lothians, West Lothian and Lanarkshire. It is presented as both a fundraising initiative and an interactive event for customers: participants race through Aldi stores to pick and place products into shopping trolleys. One lucky shopper in an EH postcode area is said to be offered the opportunity to compete in the Lothians by racing through their local Aldi store and filling a trolley with their favourite items.
The activity is scheduled for May and is positioned as a way to coincide with the start of the Highland Games season while generating support for CHAS.
