India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducts three consecutive flight tests on June 10 and 11, demonstrating a multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability and completing the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Medium Range (NASM-MR). According to a Ministry of Defence statement, the BMD trials involve interceptor missiles that successfully engage and neutralise designated targets, validating the system’s ability to counter evolving ballistic missile threats. The ministry says the BMD capability can engage threats across different layers, including endo-atmospheric and exo-atmospheric interception ranges, and it positions India among a group of nations with BMD capability against long-range ballistic missile categories.

Separately, the DRDO’s NASM-MR test is described as successful and is intended to provide a modern maritime strike option for the armed forces. Multiple outlets also report that senior DRDO and service officials witness the tests and that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulates DRDO for the successful demonstrations. The announcements focus on indigenous development and ongoing capability-building in missile defence and naval strike systems.
