An Indian Air Force (IAF) An-32 military transport aircraft crashes during a routine/training sortie near Jorhat in Assam, killing five personnel and injuring the co-pilot. The IAF says the accident occurred at about 10:00 (1000h) on June 13, 2026, during an aircraft approach at the Rowriah airfield inside Jorhat Air Force Station. According to the IAF, crash site management and initial enquiries are underway, and the force asks the public to avoid speculation until preliminary findings are available.

The IAF later confirms the deaths of Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam. Multiple reports say the co-pilot survives and is receiving treatment. Preliminary information described an incident during landing/approach, after which the aircraft crash-landed within the airbase, split into sections and caught fire.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says authorities are awaiting a detailed report. The IAF orders a Court of Inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the crash, including factors related to the aircraft’s technical condition and the sequence of events during the landing approach.
