A three-year-old boy receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhopal dies after an alleged formalin injection into his IV line, according to multiple reports. An FIR is registered against two nursing officers following a hospital internal inquiry that reportedly finds gross negligence. Authorities say formalin, a hazardous chemical used to preserve tissue samples, was allegedly administered when the child’s IV line became blocked during treatment for a blood cancer condition. The reports identify the child as Sarthak Yadav and say he was admitted to AIIMS Bhopal on December 15, 2025, with police alleging that a syringe containing formalin was left unattended near his bed after a related procedure was postponed. On December 17, nursing staff allegedly used the syringe without properly checking its contents, despite warnings from the child’s father. After the injection, the child’s condition reportedly deteriorated rapidly and he later died. The internal investigation reportedly concludes that formalin entered the bloodstream and led to death, prompting police action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police teams are formed to arrest the two accused, and further investigation is ongoing.
