A 35-year-old woman in Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh, dies after an alleged attack by a pack of stray dogs. Local reports say the victim, identified as Leela Bai, goes to collect dry wood and scrap near Rajghat Road on Friday afternoon/evening, near brick kilns. Family members allege that 5–6 stray dogs knock her down and bite her on her hands, legs, stomach and neck, while residents say she is attacked by multiple dogs. A worker at a nearby brick kiln hears barking and her screams and finds the dogs attacking; he chases them away. The woman is reportedly bleeding heavily and dies at the scene. Police reach the area, take the body into custody, and send it for a post-mortem examination. A doctor on the post-mortem panel confirms dog bites and scratches on the body, with injury marks on the neck, head, hands and legs described as severe; a detailed report is sent to authorities. Police say they review the full autopsy findings before making further comments and state they are investigating the incident from all angles. Local residents express anger over recurring stray dog sightings and say complaints have been made. A municipal official says the incident occurred outside municipal limits and that vaccination drives continue in urban areas.
