Nigerian Army troops carry out operations in Zamfara State in which they destroy a terrorist camp and rescue three kidnapped victims. According to an operational update cited by multiple outlets, the mission is conducted by troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma on June 12 across communities in Zurmi and Shinkafi local government areas as part of intensified efforts to combat banditry and restore security. During patrols covering areas including Birnin Saba, Yanbuki and Sabon Garin Daudawa, troops engage armed men operating in Yanbuki District of Zurmi LGA. One terrorist is neutralised in the ensuing fighting while others flee. Forces then advance toward Sabon Garin Daudawa, where the fleeing fighters abandon a camp. Security personnel clear the area and destroy the camp to prevent it from being used again, and they rescue three kidnapped victims who are evacuated safely. The operation also includes recovery of items reportedly taken from the location, such as rifles, ammunition magazines, motorcycles, mobile phones and other equipment. The Army reiterates that it will sustain aggressive operations across Zamfara and the North-West region until armed networks are dismantled and lasting peace returns.
