The annual Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam is scheduled to take place from June 22 to June 26, 2026. The four-day Hindu festival, held during the monsoon season, is closely associated with the worship of Goddess Kamakhya and is observed as her annual menstruation cycle. Sources describe the event as a major pilgrimage gathering, attracting thousands of devotees, saints, sadhus, and visitors from across India and beyond.

During the festival, the temple remains closed for three days, reflecting the belief that the goddess undergoes her cycle and rests in seclusion. No worship or religious activities are carried out inside the shrine during this period. On the fourth day, the temple doors reopen after special purification rituals, after which devotees can seek blessings. The festival also draws attention from Tantric practitioners.

The Kamakhya Temple is one of India’s 51 Shakti Peethas, located atop the Nilachal Hills. Devotees are also expected to receive “Angabastra,” a piece of red cloth believed to symbolize the goddess’s blessing.

Authorities also shift booking for “Special Darshan” tickets entirely online, with the online portal opening on June 15, 2026 at 6 PM, and offline bookings discontinued from June 15.
