Nara Organics recalls its Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula following reports of infant botulism in multiple children, federal officials say. The recall follows illnesses in three babies, including at least one case in California and additional cases in other states. Authorities say the affected product is sold nationwide and is available through major retail and online channels, including Target stores and Nara’s website (Nara.com).

NBC and other outlets report that the company issued the recall after health agencies linked the cases to the formula, describing it as a potentially fatal but rare illness in infants under age 1. The recall applies to the product sold in the United States, and consumers are urged to stop using the formula immediately. The Food and Drug Administration is described as being involved in the notification and public information process.

A separate PR Newswire release also mentions litigation alleging the formula contained botulism spores and describes the issue as part of more than one outbreak in a short period. The underlying recall decision is attributed across sources to federal public health officials responding to the reported botulism cases.
