A bomb threat email sent to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai triggers a high-security response on Saturday, but authorities later find no explosives. Police and bomb disposal teams carry out an extensive search after the message is received at 11:22 a.m. The email claims that “bombs” have been placed at the airport and reportedly opens with a reference to a terrorist group. It also includes an unusual reference to “SWAT Kats,” an animated series.

Airport officials convene a bomb threat assessment committee (BTAC) between 11:55 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., during which the threat is evaluated and described as “non-specific.” By the end of the search, no suspicious items are found. Authorities then declare the threat a hoax.

Sahar police proceed with an investigation into the unidentified sender. According to reports, a non-cognisable (NC) offence is filed, and the email is sent via a VPN connection using addresses associated with an apparent sender and the airport’s Terminal 2 feedback email. Police continue efforts to trace the source.
