India marks the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor and reiterates that it has the right to defend itself against cross-border terrorism attributed by New Delhi to Pakistan-backed activities. At a weekly media briefing, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the day is being observed following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which he said the international community recognized as an instance of cross-border terrorism. Jaiswal stated that cross-border terrorism has long been used, in India’s view, as an instrument of state policy by Pakistan. He said India gave a “befitting reply” in response to Pakistan’s sponsorship of such attacks. The MEA also said India will continue working with other countries to strengthen the global fight against terrorism.
According to the reports, Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 last year after the Pahalgam attack, with airstrikes aimed at multiple terror infrastructures in Pakistan. The current statements focus on India’s position on self-defence and international counter-terrorism cooperation, while not introducing new operational details beyond the anniversary framing.
