Senator Adams Oshiomhole says Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), does not have what it takes to win the 2027 election. Speaking on the Mic On Podcast on Sunday, Oshiomhole argues that Obi lacks “reputation,” and he links this to what he describes as an inability to manage and resolve internal party crises.
Oshiomhole also questions Obi’s commitments to previous political platforms. He points to Obi’s departure from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) despite Obi’s earlier position that he would not leave after the party was handed to him, saying Obi instead moved to other parties. Oshiomhole further describes Obi’s move to the Labour Party as being motivated by a desire for a vice-presidential opportunity, and he argues that Obi left the Labour Party after receiving its ticket.
The senator adds that when the Labour Party provides a platform for an election, he expects the candidate to stay, invest, and address ongoing challenges. He says Obi later sought to join the ADC, and he claims Obi’s willingness to avoid stages like primaries influenced subsequent moves, culminating in his joining NDC.
