Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) commissions new transformers to address rising electricity demand in Navi Mumbai areas. In New Panvel, MSEDCL installs and commissions a 10 MVA, 33/11 kV transformer at its Sector 15 substation. The utility says existing transformers at the Sector 7 and Sector 15 substations were operating under increased load in recent weeks, raising concerns about possible overloading. After commissioning, MSEDCL shifts the load of the 11 kV Shreyas feeder to the new transformer. Further feeder transfers are planned, including the 11 kV Sector 3 and Sector 5 feeders, to reduce burden on the Sector 7 substation and improve efficiency and reliability across the distribution network.
Separately, MSEDCL commissions a 5 MVA, 33/11 kV transformer at its Kamothe Sector-9 substation. Officials say the new transformer increases the substation’s load-handling capacity to meet growing demand from residential and commercial consumers, while improving voltage quality and load balancing. The transformer is reported to undergo mandatory technical inspections, testing, and safety checks before being put into service.
