A TD Bank survey finds that more Canadians plan to use their tax refunds for saving or investing this year than last year. According to the results, 47% of respondents say they plan to save their tax refund, compared with 29% who said the same in the previous year’s survey. The survey also indicates growing interest among younger adults, particularly Gen Z. Global News reports that Gen Z Canadians are more than twice as likely to plan to save their tax refund this year. The same outlet says Gen Z respondents are also more than twice as likely to invest their refund this year, with 33% indicating they plan to invest, versus 15% last year. While the TD survey highlights stronger saving and investing intentions among Gen Z, it also shows overall participation has increased across the broader group of respondents. Both reports frame the findings as a shift from last year toward more goal-oriented use of refunds, including both saving and investment.
