US President Donald Trump says a US-Iran deal to end military fighting on multiple fronts is “now complete,” announcing steps that would restart shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In posts on Truth Social, Trump says he authorizes the “toll free” opening of the strait and the immediate removal of the US naval blockade, adding that commercial shipping should resume. He also says the change would allow oil shipments to resume through the region. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif separately states on X that the US and Iran have reached a peace arrangement that includes the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and says a formal signing ceremony is planned for 19 June in Switzerland. The reporting also notes that Iranian official media describe Iran as having forced the US to accept the deal, and that Iran has not yet issued its own public comment at the time of publication. One Iranian report says Tehran will regulate marine traffic through the Gulf in coordination with Oman under the emerging ceasefire framework.
